Project RIPCORD-ISEREST

Increasing Safety and Reliability of secondary roads for a sustainable surface transport

6th Framework Programme TRE-04-FP6TR=S07.36406/506184

Project implementation period: 01.2005 - 12.2007

Coordinator: Federal Highway Research Institute, Germany

The main aim of the project was to give scientific support to work in Europe on traffic safety on secondary roads and achieve the objectives of the Road Safety Policy by 2010 (the White Paper European Transport Policy). The more significant research tasks conducted by PIAP are: Formulating the fundamental interdependence of safety functions on secondary roads, developing a decision-making system supported by GIS, a demonstration on a selected secondary road in Poland and drawing up recommendations for increased traffic safety on secondary roads.
